Pakistan's biggest domestic competition, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, begins on September 14. This competition is organized from 14 September to 9 December. This team also includes two elder cousins ​​of Babar Azam, Kamran Akmal, and Omar Akmal. Kamran Akmal and Omar Akmal are going to play matches for the first time under the captaincy of their younger brother.

Kamran Akmal and Omar Akmal are both experienced players. Kamran Akmal has roamed in Pakistan's domestic cricket competition. He had scored more than 1000 runs in this 2016 competition. Apart from this, Pakistan is the highest run-scorer in the Super League so far. Despite this, the selectors have relied on young batsman Babar Azam in terms of captaincy.

Recently Babar Azam scored 578 runs in 13 matches of the Vitality Blast T20 tournament being played in England. This is the highest score made by a player in any one T20 competition from Pakistan.
